Training and Development

Training and development refer to educational activities within a society created to enhance the knowledge and skills of the people while providing information and instruction on how to better perform specific tasks. Training is a short-term reactive process meant for operatives and process while development is designed continuous pro-active process meant for executives. In training citizens aim to develop additional skills and in development, it is to develop a total personality. In training, the initiative is taken by the organization to meet the present need of the people. In development, the initiative is taken by the individual to meet the future need of the people.

Women Empowerment

The definition of women’s empowerment is ensuring women have control over their own lives. This includes having a strong sense of self-worth, the freedom to make choices, and the right to access resources equally, such as independent income. Supporting women’s self-empowerment means assisting women in accessing more opportunities for employment and financial independence. This can include working on skills development to increase employability. In turn, this boosts women’s confidence and quality of life. In SHF’s volunteer projects, supporting women’s empowerment can be done through education and skills training to expand the career choices available to women in the communities we work with. This gives women the chance to improve their economic status and well-being, as well as helping to break cycles that perpetuate gender discrimination and inequality.

Environment and Climate Change

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts”. Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related disasters; integrate climate change measures into policies and planning; build knowledge and capacity to meet climate change. i.e.: Sustainable Agriculture, Greening Trinco, 100 Home gardens, Training on disaster response mechanisms. SHF plans to improve lives by providing.

Gender Equality

“Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls” Goal focuses primarily on Girl-children education and welfare, including access to education facilities for Girl-children. Empower women to involve in Politics and decision-making, entrepreneurship skills for women and girls, access to livelihoods, and safer dwelling places for women-headed families and women ex-combatants. SHF plans to gain recognition for women and boys in the community.

Health and Hygiene

“Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.” Projects are focused on providing safer access to clean drinking water to children in rural schools, community water supply, and sanitation initiatives, sanitation for the disabled, and water facilities for the rural communities. Due to the global pandemic, there are multiple issues raised regarding health and hygiene. Therefore, SHF plans to improve the lives of people who do not have access to clean water and quality sanitation to address the problems related to this.

Human Rights

Human rights form the backbone of a just society, and their protection enables individuals and collectives to pursue their desired ends. Yet human rights are too frequently disregarded or revoked when politically expedient or viewed as obstacles to political, environmental, and economic objectives. A just rule of law protects and enforces fundamental rights–the right to life and security of person; freedom of thought, religion, and expression; freedom of assembly and association; fundamental labor rights; the right to privacy; equal protection of the law; and due process of law. The main purpose of SHF work is to address issues based on the rights of vulnerable people in Sri Lanka.

Education

“Education program” is defined as any program principally engaged in the provision of education, including, but not limited to, early childhood education, elementary and secondary education, postsecondary education, special education, job training, career, and technical education, and adult education, and any program that is administered by an educational agency or institution. There are many difficulties faced by students to continue their studies. SHF is planning to develop the academic life of students who are unable to access quality education.

Media

Media literacy is essential because it helps people understand the messages that are being communicated to them. With so many sources of information today, media literacy can help people identify reliable sources and filter through the noise to get at the truth. Nowadays, Media has become the source of every small effect of society. Therefore, SHF has planned to guide the journalists and media professionals to work for rights-based activities in this country.

Technology

Technology has changed the life of human beings from ancient times to the modern era. The development in the world can be related to the changes in technology directly. Start of the day or end of the day, a common denominator in our life is technology. Therefore, SHF has planned to implement projects that enhance the technology of the people.
